I’ve heard it said…By Bobbi Johnson
I’ve heard it said animals have no souls…
This I can hardly believe.
Many personalities…like yours and mine,
Is what helps make us to be.
I’ve heard it said that stone is cold…
Lifeless, dull and gray.
Granite memorials…built to our friends,
Where thousands of spirits stay.
I’ve heard it said men feel no pain…
Emotionless thru and thru.
Living humans…just like females,
I think we should get a clue.
I’ve heard it said "Johnny Got His Gun"…
And was told to kill.
Confused teenagers…dotted with pimples,
Who went from the womb, to the hill.
I’ve heard it said these are transients…
No good, homeless slobs.
Brave folk’s…now vague memories,
Who were simply doing their jobs.
I’ve heard it said, "We take care of our Vets!"
With bennies and good health care.
Governmental beasts…who eat them alive,
With ample drugs they can share.
I’ve heard it said, "Why can’t you grow up?"
"You’re lazy, useless and dumb!"
Scared Veterans…just needed our love,
But all that they feel now is numb.
I’ve heard it said animals have no souls…
About themselves Veterans have this thought.
Isn’t it time we help them to see,
The good fight for which they fought?
I’ve heard it said that war is hell…
And can’t possibly have a good outcome.
Strong Survivors…True gracious victors,
Where the hell do we think HEROES come from?
